it is 6am now and due to daylight saving, melbourne is now 3 hours ahead of singapore making it all the more difficult to talk to singapore people during this time. its ok though becos then i can fully focus on my exam preparation, which with the endless chatter over msn, would likely not be eventful.

i actually blogged once yesterday but the post didnt publish fully and it was quite long and involved alot of thought so i'm not gonna bother writing that one again. it was for my sole enjoyment i guess.

pulled another all-nighter last night so i slept at 8pm yesterday till now when nicole called me and woke me up cos she couldnt sleep. haha i should erm switch of my phone next time. haha but no its good, cause now i'm up bright and early after having a good long rest, ready to attack the books once again.

it looks a long road ahead till i get home with finals and all but there are little things that are pulling me through. thinking of the regular "drinks round the table" haha. all the little house gatherings playing cards and mahjong and those who intend to get wasted (TAT and AL) haha help yourself.

and interestingly enough, there's a litte part in my corpus callosum (haha that's neurotalk for a part in the brain) that's feeling just abit optimistic that this semester will be the best one yet. have been regularly going for classes and assignments have been handed up on a reasonable time (as compared to the old 4 weeks overdue). fingers and toes crossed, this semester's results will be excellent. gabriel out.

FRIEND(S) of the day go to DAN and his bosnian/german friend J!!

J burned a copy of FM 2007 for me, and earlier tonight dan threw it to me on my bed so hee hee, no prizes for guessing what i've been doing for the last few hours!!

melbourne's weather has gone wonky!!! it's meant to be spring reaching summer in weeks but as of now, it is 7 degrees and i just woke nicole up to see something you never get in singapore; HAIL!!!

imagine, little pellets of ice dropping from the sky in place of raindrops!! haha damn fun la, at first nicole refused to believe me, saying it was rain, but when she caught a few drops of ice, she had no choice but to admit it was HAIL! haha ohwells so cold, best thing to do, turn on the heater, and play a couple more hours of FM. hahaha gabriel out!!

halfway thru my second 2000-word essay in two days. i must say it's been a pretty decent effort. interestingly enough, in lieu of doing a few essays on international relations lately, i must say its starting to grow on me. it's not just cause its about war and stuff, but rather on how countries conduct their policies and strategies to like optimize their benefits. i just made it sound stupid but never mind, i'm starting to see a potential future in taking international relations as my major. of course, my knowledge in this subject, as well as my interest in it has largely been fuelled by mr lim jin li.

haha who duly wins the FRIEND OF THE DAY award, which has gone missing for a long time. well, it could also be a friend of the week/month/year award seeing how jin has been such a good friend to me ever since i got to know him.

i hope he knows i'm not just using him for his infinite bank of knowledge BUT just now, patient ole jin took more than an hour to explain to me certain concepts in the IR scene, and well basically he wrote my whole essay out in point form haha.

so all i am doing now is piecing everything together, along with finding suitable quotes. i wish he wrote a book, then i can just quote him on everything. "Lim (2005) said...". heh heh ohwells. gonna have to treat him breakfast, lunch, dinner and supper for a whole week to repay him man. haha if i get a HD who knows, i'll throw in a couple of lemon melons!!

okie dokes better get back to the essay, 700 words left. gabriel out! :):)

hee hee i think the plan is coming to fruition. all planning is in the final stages, and every piece of the jigsaw has been found. now, all we need to do is put the pieces together, and hopefully the end product, which is the picture on the jigsaw, will be nice.

ONLINE POLL. i like being interactive with the very few readers i have, haha and i need you people to choose a band name for me. i will list a few names up and then you guys and girls feel free to contribute your own ideas. keep in mind the premise of the name, which should strongly stand for what our band is. basically we're a little emo but mostly good old punk rock, but we're also abit edgy. but at the end of the day, despite playing noisy music, we're all mummy's boys. so please feel free to contribute, your opinion is highly valued!

(i) Belle's Revenge. i came up with this cause i dont knoe, the revenge gave it abit of an edge. and i choose belle cos i wanted a female name, but i didnt wanna choose any random name cos it would have no meaning and i mean imagine if it was called example jane's revenge then people will be asking me who on earth is jane. so yar, belle is like from beauty and the beast, a non-specific but nonetheless gorgeous girl.

(ii) Ice Cream. i implore you not to vote for this, this is azad's idea on the basis " I LIKE ICE CREAM WADDD...". so yes but if you really DO like it, go for it!

(iii) Darklight. this was a nonsense name we created awhile back in 2004, we were toying with contradictions and paradoxes back then, azad brought this up but it sounds too heavy metal so once again doesnt suit the band i think?

(iv) hmm jin came up with a few names worthy of thinking about but it wasnt saved on my msn history. hmm jin can you put them up for me? just a few.

ok once again, PLEASE dont hesistate to come up with names yourself. if you are the genius that does eventually come up with our band name, you will not only win a premium goodie bag, but also next time when we have our own Wikipedia article, and they write on how the name came about, your name will forever be etched into cyberspace. now isnt that an achievement!

manu 2-0 liverpool, very very good result. gabriel out!

today was very funny. weian and dan followed me to deakin to hand up assignments then we went chapel st for coffee and pavlova which was pretty good.

but today was funny cause i gotta talk to people back home. dan's planning to go to bangkok so we called hoon to ask him to come along. it was fun chatting to him in our favourite "accent" haha and he was saying we will reunite soon and then eat some prata and i was like "prata in bangkok?!" and he was like TOMYUM PRATA. yucks.

also talked to iannypoo!! heh heh very funny he was telling me how he hian and adhi were in KL, must be having loadsa fun man. the three of them (the top seeds in eating) competed in a buffet today which adhi, true to tradition came out on tops again haha. hope ian can find time off work to go bangkok too!

then last but not least (in fact very most), called azad to discuss the gig which he managed to tentatively get for us. it was damn funny talking to him, he's the only one i talk to about idiots who choose songs with 10 minute guitar solos and drummers who only know how to pout hahah. was thinking of getting someone as a guitarist but azad said "HE'S TOO LOUSY". hahah even im not that bad despite the history.
but hopefully we will decide on our song choices soon, and hopefully if the gig does come true and we do get to play, then all we need to do is find a few more members (which is like our tradition; finding people to play in our band) and then practice and hopefully we're good to go! fingers crossed it materialises cos im dying to play after a one year hiatus from the BIG STAGE, if you discount all the small two-song appearances at indochine of course heh.

we got a few surprises up our sleeves of course. we're gonna have in our band a person who plays an instrument you dont normally see in a rock band. it's a very common instrument of cos, but not many bands around us have one, so we're gonna be slightly special haha.
secondly, i have tried and tried and busted my guts out but i have managed to secure a very very talented musician. i made him PERSONALLY promise that he was gonna play in our band (haha) and we rope him in for one gig first but sooner or later we're gonna make him a permanent fixture.

this is damn exciting, we might need another guitarist however. interested applicants, please submit your CV and all musical academic qualifications to:

181 Exhibition Street
Melbourne, VIC 3000

also, if you're a drummer and you're better than azad (HAHA), feel free to apply to. i'm boss anyway. just dont apply to replace me as lead please haha. shant be so cocky, i sense a mutiny in the band. havent been so excited about my music for awhile since last year's not fantastic performance which was down to technical glitches more than anything, but it sure ruined my appetite for performing for a weebit. now the passion's back, fingers and toes crossed its gonna be a good one. gabriel out!

just finished what was probably the most stressful assignment ever. all the countless last minute overdue essays cannot compare to trying to label slide after slide of the brain, cerebellum, corpus callosum, axons, dendrites, schwann cells and nodes of ranvier. but it has all been done, and along with my labwork all for a measly 15%, but it has been done on-time, and i have to comment myself on a good effort.

had my first driving lesson today, it was nerve-wrecking!! but overall i think i caught on quite well altho i keep forgetting alot of basic things like moving the gear back to first whenever i stop.

didnt get much sleep before driving so it was amazing i didnt kill anyone. dan and i went to south melbourne marker after the manu-copenhagen match and even tho i was a lil reluctant to go cos i was abslutely knackered plus first lesson, i was damn glad i did. not only was the market really nice and clean, but the food was so fresh. we had oysters on the spot which damn damn fresh.

ALSO, we were just walking abit out of the food area and i walked past this shop that sold football guernseys. and i saw this autographed victorian (melbourne is in victoria) jumper which they dont make anymore due to the extinction of the interstate matches (STATE OF ORIGIN it is called). but i casually asked the guy if they do sell those jumpers, and they actually can order any custom made jumper from a guy who produces them! so i hastily but happily ordered one. BIG V!! you'll see what i mean when i get it.

dan made a gastronomically-tantalising dinner today. using the fresh whole red snapper he bought this morning, he baked it along ith capsicums and potatoes which he had already pan-fried a lil in all kinds of shizbits. and voila, one of the best meals i've had in awhile!! in addition to last night's brilliant burrito del mar at taco bill. YUMMERS!

anyway, gonna watch chelsea-barcelona and then might get some good rest before heading down to deakin for LAST DAY OF SCHOOL TERM heh heh. gabriel out!

well as shumin said, we had a really really great chat on friday night. it started with me just testing my hypothesis with her but it ended with us both strongly agreeing that the best days of our lives belong to the past.

and i dont know, it might be justs psychological that the past just naturally seems much better cos of the fond memories, altho some people say the future always looks brighter. but to be 100% completely honest, in terms of friendships and just general good times, it seems like nothing can surpass 2004 till early 2005 for memorable moments.

becos owen and i were talking about the "good ole times" haha and i was just reading old archives and friendster messages and i realised how close alot of us used to be. and like one of the guys (think it was adam) said dont worry we can create more fun memories when you get back. but like i realised that no matter how much fun we have, it would really take alot to beat the past.

like how i would meet up with azad and adam and whoever after school and they'd be in uniform (altho come to think of it they're still in uniform just a different kind heh). and like, owen used to be seriously free haha. we'd just spend like 3 nights out of the week getting drunk alone at my place. one word: wicked.

it's like it used to be so easy to identify with everyone cos mostly you just had to identify with their ac lives. and the others you could also relate to cos they were important and you wanted to relate to them, like owen in poly, adam in sa, tat in barker, eric in sydney and ryan in perth. but like you know it was easy to keep up to date with most of their lives cos it was intertwined. like if i wanted updates on nigey i could ask shumin and all.

but now everyone's gone their different ways, it makes it hard to keep in contact with everyone becos you know have to identify with a gazillion seperate lives. how on earth am i meant to remember who is studying wear and who is dating who! which inevitably results in you selecting who you deem most important to you, cos there is only so much effort you can put in to remembering each and everyone's lives.

but not all is dull and gloomy. word that jin and owen and azad have been hanging out despite the lack of my presence makes me somewhat envious, but also puts a smile on my face. that a poet, a mat driver and a muscular boatman could actually find common interests to meet up on.

here's to the splendid and unforgettable memories of the past, but also to creating new ones which will hopefully one day outdo the lofty standards our good times have set for us. gabriel out!

when you have an essay you want to hand it tomorrow (or rather, today) and you have been procrastinating for the last 13 hours, ebay-ing and watching youtube amongst other things, you know you're pretty screwed. add blogging to that list now.

not even wearing a tshirt with mighty mouse on it can save you.

i've caught a pretty nasty flu bug. well it's slightly flu cos of alot of phlegm and a runny nose, but it's really sucky cos i've lost my voice. like you wouldnt recognise me if you heard me now, and my voice really sounds horrible.

but last two days have been alright cause i managed to get a game of tennis on both. on friday, had nothing to do and nicole's been bugging me to play tennis with her so we managed to find time to go play. it was pretty funny, but she was a fast learner and eventually could hit a few pretty good shots.

saturday was nice, woke up at 8 to go to victoria market cos dan needed to buy groceries for the dinner he would be cooking that night. had a nice breakfast and after getting groceries, we headed over to weian's to play tennis. was only managed to book one hour, and we got chased out after that but still, we managed to have alot of fun while we were at it.

later his sister michelle and brother in law daniel lee cooked a belated birthday lunch for me so thank you for that! haha and the tiramisu they bought was damn good too! weian's mum was so cute they tried bluffing her i was only sixteen so over the phone she wished me HAPPY SWEET SIXTEEN GABRIEL! haha i was controlling my laughter while thanking her.

later that night, dan cooked this french dish out of his antony bourdain cookbook which was very very good albeit a whole load of vegetables present. daniel lee and michelle came over so had some good company altho my voice was pretty much gone by then.

ok good weekend, hope i get well soon. gabriel out!

not gonna make a big fuss about it, but just for future reference, and also so i can thank the people who deserve the credit.

panda was the first way before 12 at nicole's place, followed by sant online. jin then gave me a surprise phone call and we had a good 20-plus minute chat, in addition to the book he have sent me via airmail haha. nicole was of course the first one to wish me at 12, followed by cute messages from weian and ian all the way from malaysia haha.

the morning itself, had a rude awakening with banging on my door. i opened it to find kevin and dan with a cake and a song haha. also they got the new manu jersey, which is my first manu jersey in like 5-6 years?? so that was nice haha. also got wishes from sant (again!!), mark lim, darryl, chen tat, nicky and my auntie and cousin thru sms, as well as in person from panda and claire. super gesture by nala too who called all the way from pittsburgh haha.

had dinner at waterfront at night with dan and nicole, followed by crown plus weian during which shumin called, thus officially becoming the last person to wish me haha.

thank you everyone for making it a memorable 19th. :)
