so i have been kept extremely busy over the past 10 days or so with the arrival and stay of hoon, mun and yuwei. arriving on friday morning a week ago, they just left today and left behind many indelible and significant imprints on melbourne, consisting both physical, mental and gaseous ones.
the first weekend we drove up to apollo bay; great ocean road being a 'MUST-SEE' and stayed over for two nights in the very captivating house we rented. it had an awesome fireplace (which was to cause much distress on the second night) and the view was pretty awesome. also, to be away from civilization, as well as having limited correspondence with the world was an interesting but perhaps not-so-welcome change. on one of the days, we drove to some port and had the most amazing fish and chips i've ever eaten. maybe it was due to our immense hunger but the fish tasted incredibly fresh and the batter was light yet tasty. fantastic!
another place we brought them was mount dandenong, which by sheer coincidence or bad screw-up, took place on one of the coolest melbourne winter days in ages according to the papers. it was heavily foggy, raining and pretty chilly but i didnt think it was that bad till we reached the peak and i realised what i initially thought was rain was actually collecting as little ice droplets on my jacket!! checked the temperature for dandenong when i reached home at 7pm and it was 1.7 celsius meaning when we were up there earlier on in the afternoon, must have been say.. 3-5 degrees? and that's no joke for a victorian winter.
yesterday was another experience. we went to watch the footy first, collingwood trounced essendon in a convincing victory (yeah!) before we watched the melbourne storm totally steamroller the canberra raiders in rugby league. of course, the rugby was made a tad more interesting with the punch-up two rows in front of us that was so enthralling the storm player nearest to the stand was intently engaged in the fight while his own teammate was taking the conversion ha.
didnt follow them on a couple of places like daylesford and st kilda but overall, i think they had a pretty decent if not excellent time!!
just finished reading
harry potter and the deathly hallows, which i'm sure you all would have guessed by now. i guess i should also admit that i wasnt online for the past 24 hours in fear of imbeciles putting up spoilers on their messenger nicks or wherever else they may deem as perfectly suitable for spoiling everyone else's HPE (Harry Potter Experience). overall, i found the book positively satisfying albeit a little confusing and boring in the earlier parts. but still, considering the weight of the first 6 books were on this final one, it definitely didnt disappoint in my opinion.
ok i have said enough for now. i chanced upon kat dennings' blog earlier; pretty neat how some famous people are down to earth enough to make themselves approachable and fan-friendly. i guess i'm not famous but still, i shall try to be more stranger-friendly. gabriel out!

so after a whirlwind two weeks back in singapore, it is back to cold gloomy melbourne which is starting to increasingly resemble the uk with the sparse appearances of the sun and the constant overcast skies. now i wish i had frequently blogged during the break cause i cant seem to recollect the things that i did, but i know i had alot of fun. still, i will try to faintly do justice to the events.
spent quite a bit of time with nicole and we did cool things, from watching movies (fantastic4, transformers, harrypotter) and they were all very good, to going to cool places to eat (superfamous with the lobster bisque and wagyu burger!).
i also remember watching tat play polo at ngee ann where he scored 4 goals. mean stuff tat, altho he is the first sportsman i have witnessed engage in idle chatter with his direct opponent while the game is going on elsewhere haha.
last sunday afternoon was very good, met up with tat and marc at hollandv. tat accompanied me for chicken chop before we had drinks at 4pm aussie-style. and tat drank too haha so much for abstinence but it was all good. catching up with soldier marc about army life and asking tat questions like whether he would pose nude for a million bucks haha.
i remember having dinner at botak jones one night with dan, nala and hoon and the food is seriously freaking good!! altho we like queued for 15 min and then the cashier said the food would take another 45 min to and hour (altho it wasnt THAT long). haha but the food was really awesome and at competitively cheaper prices considering it was restaurant standard food (i sound like an advert) heh.
and of course owen's army send off which was 3 days early i guess haha but thanks one and all for coming and giving him a decent night to remember. good drinks with good company and a great ambience. so owen chong, who is enlisting tomorrow, PLEASE take care of yourself, and do not over-exert your muscles even though they are ginormous. i think, and know, you'll do fine in there and dont forget about me when you meet all those zephyr characters, remember to message whenever the need arises.
okie dokes, gabriel out!
